Stairlift Servicing

Having a stairlift in your home can give you the freedom to enjoy all parts of your home, both upstairs and downstairs.  But what happens if it stops working? 

Just like any mechanical device, you will want to make sure your stairlift stays in good working order especially as it is likely to be used several times each day.  It is therefore very important that it is regularly serviced by one of our team of qualified engineers.  There is a 12 month warranty with a new Acorn stairlift but we can service other makes of stairlifts too.

Even though stairlifts are generally very reliable, we recommend that stairlift servicing is carried out every 12 months to ensure trouble-free performance.  During the stairlift service, the trained engineer will check all the electrical parts and mechanical components and will replace any parts if required.

Stairlift Maintenance

If you look after your stairlift properly, it will last for many years and you are unlikely to experience any problems with it.  Between your annual services, it is very important that you follow these useful hints:

  • Make sure that nothing obstructs the rails on your stairlift.
  • Rails should be kept dust-free by cleaning with a dry cloth once a week (a hose attachment for a vacuum cleaner can also help with the difficult to reach areas).
  • Ensure that hair from pets does not get clogged in the rails.
  • Your stairlift is not a toy so please do not permit children to play on it or tamper with the controls.
  • All people using the stairlift should weigh less than the maximum weight threshold of your stairlift.

Stairlift Repairs

Even though you have your stairlift serviced regularly and you follow the maintenance advice, there may be times when a problem arises with it.  If that happens, please call us on 028 3833 5771 (24 hours per day, 7 days per week) and we will do our best to assist you. 

Should we be unable to assist you via the phone, one of our experienced engineers will arrange to visit you at your home to rectify the problem.  They will endeavour to fix the problem swiftly and professionally making sure there is minimum impact on your home.  Should additional parts be required, they will be sourced and fitted as quickly as possible.
